In 1925, bank teller Henry Kepler roasted his first batch of beans in the Bywater and went door-to-door with a coffee pot in hand asking neighbors to “Try me.”
99 years later, Try Me Coffee still roasts coffee in its original location in the bywater of New Orleans – surrounded by the same houses that Henry knocked on a century ago.
Our ethos is simple – roast beans to-order and provide our community with the best brew possible – a brew that they will drink for centuries to come.
Our clients range from iconic New Orleans restaurants to national eateries; we package and serve beans to our neighbors, visitors, and NOLA-lovers from around the world.
Clients tell us stories of running down the block to pick up Try Me when they were a kid. Now, 50+ years later, we are still journeying here, to the same block, to get their beans.
Try Me Now
Try Me has always been a business run by family and members of our community in New Orleans. Try Me employees Jerico and Mr. Willie have worked here for a combined 50+ years. They keep the business running and make the brew you taste possible.
After three generations of family owners from the Kepler/Lutz Family, Abby King and Lauren “Mermaid” McCabe took over the business in 2022 to keep the Try Me business alive. They live just around the corner in the Bywater and welcomed a baby boy, Marlin, into that world that same year.
